Ruisrock 2026 — Day One Report

Ruisrock is back. The oldest continuously-running rock festival in Finland — and one of the oldest in Europe — opened its 2026 edition on the island of Ruissalo, Turku, and Metal Madness Weekly was on the ground from the first bridge crossing.

Media Pass On

Media pass secured, wristband on, camera charged. From the second the accreditation is on, Ruisrock's Day One rhythm takes over: sun, salt air, pine trees, and a bass thump already rolling off the Rantalava stage in the distance.

Arriving to the Area

The walk in through the iconic pink Ruisrock arch never gets old. Crowd is happy, staff is calm, and the golden-hour light hitting Ruissalo's oaks makes even the queue feel like part of the show.

The View from Ruisrock

Then that view — the main stage rising up from the sand, the sea just steps behind the crowd, and a full audience already locked in. Ruisrock's location is still its secret weapon: very few festivals in Europe put you between a forest, a beach and a mainstage this cleanly.

Lost Society — Turku's Own

Hometown heroes Lost Society brought Day One's first real metal detonation. That massive red 'LOST SOCIETY' backdrop, thrash-punk energy at full tilt, and a crowd that clearly came ready. The band tore through their set with the confidence of a group playing to their people, in their city, with everything to prove and nothing to lose.

Etta

A total gear shift: Etta owned the mainstage with a full stage production — brick-wall NYC backdrop, big signature logo, dancers and a pop-forward set that pulled one of the biggest daytime singalongs of the weekend so far. Ruisrock's genre range in one afternoon.

Nenerchy feat. Sammy from Lost Society

One of the day's stand-out surprise moments: Nenerchy hit the smaller stage with a special guest appearance from Sammy (Lost Society). Megaphone in hand, tattoos flexed, crowd throwing horns — a classic Ruisrock cross-genre collision that only really happens at this festival.

Cledos

Cledos closed out our Day One coverage in front of the pink main-stage canopy — all white outfit, sunglasses, and a packed field of fans singing every word. A reminder that Ruisrock's mainstage energy is not just for headliners.

Day One Verdict

Sun, sea, salt, thrash, pop, hip hop — Ruisrock 2026 Day One delivered exactly what the festival is famous for: no single-genre tunnel vision, no filler, and the kind of location that keeps you smiling between sets.
